Snow everywhere but here

(personal life )

The big blizzard-like storm has yet to hit MA too hard yet, so I made the trek into work. Unfortunately it looks like I won't being doing much seeing as the most the people I need input from won't be here b/c of said storm. I'm working puting the new php counters around the site just so I can see if I'm getting anytrafic, I doubt it, but we'll see. I've done multiple searches for my name and the web site, with nothing to be seen. I guess I'm a little too unknown at this point, which is fine by me, I'd like the site to look a little more professional before I start getting a major amount of hits.

This weekend was a booze and drug filled haze. Sarah and Shane moving their crap out all weekend made it a little tense around the house. I discovered last night that they mistakenly took my plates, leaving the house with about 5 plates total for 5 peoples, not a good thing. I'll have a little talk with sarah about that... all things considered they've done a decent job being respectful of other people's stuff during their move, except for the occasional loud door slam while I was trying to sleep.

Went to the store last night, that was an adventure. Everybody and their grandmother was stocking up for the coming storm. Still managed to get out there without too much trouble.

I need to find something to do....

Thoughts about handhelds and more

(thoughts )

Just found this article on Slashdot about HP possibly moving to PocketLinux for the new Jornadas. I was first excited when I saw heldhelds.org because by and large I'm a big fan of Linux in all it's flavors. It's not that I don't appreciate Microsoft software, I'd just like to have a choice.... I had been contemplating getting a new iPAQ when I found out it could run PocketLinux, but cooler heads and empty wallets prevailed. I'm overjoyed thought that other companies are persuing PocketLinux as a viable alternative to PalmOS and the artist formerly known as WindowsCE.

It other things I found weird today, Xenu.net is an interesting site trying to expose what they call the "harms of Scientology" and trying to expose it as a cult. Some really interesting info at that site. How I ended up there is one of those random bizzare "let's click this link" moment. Was reading an article of /. about censoring internet connections at Universities and followed a link to a site for Scientology based internet filtering software. One of the major things it filters is anything from the said Xenu.net. End of story is that I went there and spent a bit of time informing myself (as any good citizen should do). L. Ron did some messed up things is his day, and I'll leave it at that.

Still bored out of my head at work. Need to find something to do so I don't spend money like I did yesterday.... but I am getting a PS2, so I guess it works out in the end.

God damn that's a lot of Bjork

(internet )

Bjork remixes has more Bjork remixes than I know what to do with. Not surprisingly there's some 47 remixes of Joga, which is probably my favorite song off of Homogenic.

Shane and Sarah started their move out last night, quite noisily I might add. I counted three times I woke up from loud bangs.... Hopefully they'll get a good portion of their move done today while I'm at work, cause I don't want to deal with it when I get home.

Work is boring yet again today. I need a new project or something...

Hey Will, pass the bong.

(internet )

Found this note at Plastic:
researchers in South Africa claim that William Shakespeare may have been a regular cannabis user and may have used maryjane as inspiration for his work. Research published in the South African Journal of Science shows that pipes dug up from the garden of Shakespeare's home in Stratford upon Avon contain traces of cannabis. Professor of Palentology at the Transvaal University, Dr. Francis Thackeray, thinks that the line in Sonnet 76 -- 'invention in a noted weed' is an admission that Shakespeare relied on his cannabis intake for poetic inspiriation, though he concedes that there is no direct physical evidence that links the pipes to the Bard.

Time flies...

(personal life )

I just realized today I only have 3 weeks before the beginning of spring quarter. Where the hell did the time go? At least I'm nearly done with my project at work. I'd expect that I'll be cleaning it up and helping the Release Engineer put into the build scripts for the next couple of weeks.

The person who was suppose to show up last night to look at the room never showed. Cindy is the front runner as far as I'm concerned, we'll see what other people think at the house meeting tonight.
