Bueracracy in action
(work )So the project I was suppose to start was canceled before Wednesday. Then on top of that I've been yanked back to development with still nothing to do. The long and the short of it is this: I was hired as a Developer therefor I should always be doing work for Development, at least as far as my supervisors are concerned. I guess that's the last time I show any initiative, now I'm just going to sit around and wait for them to give me something to do. They're very well aware that I have nothing to do and are trying to find something, but I have a suspision that it won't happen any time soon.
In other news, I went back to the gym today. I'm going to work on getting there Tuesday's and Friday's for a few hours and when I can do that easily move on to everyday. Of course that might not happen before the quarter's over. At that point I have to find some other time to go, like after work. Problem with that situation is that weekdays at around 5-6 the gym gets rather crowded. I'm not sure early morning is much of a solution either, but we'll burn that bridge when we're on it I suppose.

No more excuses
(personal life )Well I finally decided to stop making excuses and went to the gym this morning. I even tried to make excuses this morning like "3 hours isn't nearly enough time." After kicking myself in the head a few times, I finally followed through with my New Year's resolution, only about 5 months late. Better late than never I suppose.
Midterms are coming up this week and next. I'm a little anxious about some of them because the lack of work that I've done for them. I suppose this weekend I'll have to crack the books.
My right front tire is continuing to leak air at an annoying rate. Filled the tire yesterday afternoon, and today it is already soft, looks like I may have to shell out some dough to get a new tire, wonderful....
Wednesday I will start a new project at work. I'll be working with the Training Department in order to develop some new interactive tools for new hires possibly in flash. While not really my cup of tea, I am interested in UI design, so this ought to be a semi-good experience.

A great time of the year for sports!
(thoughts )This is probably the best time of the year sports wise. You've got the NHL and NBA playoffs, which are usually when I start watching both sports seriously, and it's the beginning of the baseball season, before the Red Sox have had a chance to rip my heart out. Today wasn't great for the Sox, Lowe gave up two homeruns in the 10th to lose the game, but we did get a run off of Rivera.
4/20 is a complete and utter haze. I took two naps during the day, and don't think I had a sober moment the entire day. When I woke up at 2 PM on Saturday, I had no concept of what day and/or time it was. Think I'll lay low for a little while.
Black & White is still a big time sync, with Paper Mario close behind. I love playing video games, but it's nice to have FUN games again. It seemed for a while that I was playing games with the expressed purpose of saying "yep, I beat that game," but with all the time I was spending on other things, I realized that video games weren't much fun for me any more. Now I enjoy playing video games, and I can still say "yep, I beat that game."

Fun with Linux, playing catch up
(computers )Jesus... just thought I'd complain about Red Hat's update tool, because it appears to be the problem behind my long down time. Oops, looks like I updated the wrong rpms or something... urgh... After a smooth SuSE 7.1 install on a new machine, the web server is back up and running in some way shape or form. Things will be iffy at best for the next couple weeks, because with other projects I'm working on (read: school, my JOB, and general life) I don't have the time or patience to be updating the new server every 5 minutes like I used to.
Hmm.... bringing the blog up to date:
- School full-time since End of March
- Money and Banking - Interesting topic, bad delivery
- Urban Economics - look, I need to finish my subarea, OK?
- Computers and Society - the teachers a hippy, the assignments are silly, but the class discussions rule
- Transaction Systems - the second DB class, what the hell do DBA's do anyway....
- Intermediate Japanese - chotto muzukashii desu yo! (It's a little difficult)
- Still working 10-15 hours a week at WTC
- Playing Black & White a bit
- Working on becoming even more of a hippy than I already am... (read: lots of cannabis)
- Still an empty room at 35claymoss, making rent that much more expensive...
That probably doesn't even begin to say what's happened in the past month, but it's a start. Gonna go poke Linux for a while....
